At Electric City Cycles, we stand by the vehicles we sell. One of the major benefits of our location at 11 Olive Square in Somerville is that we share a home with Boston's Human-Powered Delivery Service, Metro Pedal Power.  As part of our partnership with Metro Pedal Power, the customers of Electric City Cycles have access to repair and maintenance services provided by MPP staff.

The mechanics at Metro Pedal Power have built their skills with electric vehicles by keeping a fleet of heavy-duty electric tricycles operating year-round. In addition to their considerable talent, Metro Pedal Power has a shop with capacity far beyond that of the typical bicycle shop.  In addition to the usual tasks of repairing busted and worn-out parts, the Metro Pedal Power crew has the skills and tools to fabricate custom bicycle frames, custom racks and specialized storage systems. 

Electric bicycles typically feature a combination of off-the-shelf bicycle components and a proprietary electric drive train. The key challenge for servicing electric bikes is having ready access to replacement parts for all aspects of the electric drive train, including the throttle, controller, battery, and motor. The challenge is magnified by the fact that virtually all of the manufacturing is done by small companies in China. At Electric City Cycles, we put a priority on selling vehicles that are backed by a strong US-based distributor who can provide replacement parts on short notice. If we don't have a part in our inventory, our distributors can supply whatever is needed within a few days. We discontinued our relationship with one e-bike vendor because we could not get spare parts without waiting for the next boat from China. 

Electric City Cycles is committed to servicing any and all vehicles we sell. On a case-by-case basis, we are sometimes able to help out with service for electric bikes and electric scooters from brands other than those we carry. We do not provide service for gasoline-powered scooters.
